Dancing the maypole at our Mayfair, May 28.
Marketing update

by Rita Landgraf

The open house on May 7 was a big success. The mini main lessons by the teachers and Anne Greer's talk on Courage, Confidence and Competence through Waldorf Education were very well received.

There was another Open House scheduled for June 4. Our new teacher, Mr. Hayes, was able to come and a few families showed up to visit the school. At the same time we had a yard sale and were able to sell some of what was left over from the May Fair.

On May 14th, we took part in the United Ways Share Fair at the Community College - an opportunity to network in the community and find out more about the United Way as an organization.

Almost every week we have ads in the local weekly papers; we also have ads in the summer recreation brochure that goes to almost every household in Lunenburg County.

Needed:
Items to auction at a Silent Auction during one of the Food and Film nights this summer.

We still need to get the wheelchair ramp done. If anyone has information regarding grants this project may be eligible for, please let Julie or Rita know.

Food and Film 2005

July 30th:

Satin Rouge, Tunisia, Raja Amari's sensual and sumptuous film about a widowed Muslim seamstress who discovers both her libido and her belly button as she follows her daughter's musician lover into a world of belly dancing and female companionship.

August 27th:

Talk To Her, Spain, Pedro Almodovar's most touching and accessible film about two men who care deeply for two strong women, one a bullfighter and the other a young ballet dancer, both of whom are in a nursing home because of tragedies they have each faced. This film bursts with compassion, sensuousness and a love of life in all of its complexities.

September 24th:

Monsieur Ibrahim, France. Set in early 1960's in Paris in a working class neighborhood, two unlikely characters - a young Jewish boy left to his own devices by his father and an elderly Muslim - begin a friendship. Together they begin a journey that will change their lives forever. Starring Omar Sharif in a standout performance as the elderly and secretive Ibrahim whose heart opens to the young boy.

October 29th:

Since Otar Left, Georgia (formerly USSR), An amazingly sensitive film about three generations of women living in the troubled city of Tibilsi, Georgia. When the absent and beloved son Otar, trained as a doctor and employed as a construction worker in Paris is in a tragic accident, the family members choose to protect the ailing mother from this news. The film examines with great tenderness the lies we choose to live in order to protect ourselves and others and the psychic and emotional cost societies and individuals pay in avoiding truth.

All evenings begin with a full course meal and dessert linked to the national cuisine of the origin of the film. Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m., and the film at 7:30. Some nights may feature dance performances, e.g. belly dancing for Tunisia and Flamenco for Talk to Her. There will be a silent auction, probably at the August screening.

Tickets: $30.00 for combined dinner and film available at Sagors in Bridgewater and at P’lovers in Mahone Bay.
