Information about our School and the Area

The South Shore Waldorf School, located in rural Nova Scotia, is an independent school enthusiastically run by its committed teachers, parents and supportive friends. At present, it is comprised of three classes (nursery/kindergarten, grades 1-3 and grades 4-6) with a total enrolment of 42 students. Our first five years were spent in a picturesque schoolhouse situated at the foot of a lakeside farm near the town of Bridgewater. Seven years ago, to reflect our changing needs, we relocated to a character-filled 60-year-old schoolhouse that sits on seven acres of fields and trees in the community of Blockhouse, minutes away from the historic village of Mahone Bay.

Our school is young and growing; our children enthusiastic and creative; and our teachers, parents and friends dedicated to the flourishing of our community. The entire school body (children, parents, teachers and friends alike) is involved in all aspects of running the school - renovating the building, fundraising, organizing guest lectures, developing school policy, enrolling new student.

We have many dreams and wishes. At present, our class teacher provides instruction in drama, art, movement and handwork. Our faculty includes part-time music, French, math, form-drawing and language arts teachers and several part-time Main Lessons teachers.

Join us as we blossom and flourish.
