Waldorf Education is international and originated in Europe in 1919. It was developed on the basis of the philosophy, educational principles and methods of Rudolf Steiner who was an Austrian philosopher, scholar and scientist. Waldorf education is distinguished by its curriculum, it is taught in blocks and is designed to meet the various stages of child development.

Here at the South Shore Waldorf School we offer Kindergarten to grade six, along with a parent-tot session and after-school care.

Parent-Tot Sessions:

This program is offered in 6-week blocks. Please click on the menu for more information.

Kindergarten:

The Waldorf Kindergarten is designed to foster the natural curiosity and wonder of the young child. It recreates the environment of a warm and loving home: rhythmically, repetitive and secure. It is for children ages 4 - 6 and is offered part -time or full-time, Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Please click on the menu for more information.

Grades 1-6:

Here, children do not just read literature or history, they hear stories, they write, sing, draw and paint them. They learn math and science by singing, clapping, chanting and discovering them. Hands-on classes such as handwork, woodworking or pottery help the children develop patience, precision and the self-motivation required for lifelong learning. The grades are offered in two classrooms: 1 - 3 and 4 - 6. Please click on the menu for more information.

Summer Programs:

During the summer we offer two programs for children, Morning Glory - for ages 3 1/2 to 5 years and Summer Arts - for ages 6 and up. Programs usually run weekly; Cost: $130/week or $30/day. Please click on the menu for more information.

Before and After School Care:
