Our Festival planning team has started to work on the 2012 event, and wanted to let you know a few early details, in case you were interested in participating again in this year’s event:
§ SAVE THE DATE: The event will take place on Friday, August 24th and Saturday the 25th. Friday will include opening ceremonies and entertainment. Saturday will be similar to what you experienced last year with exhibits, activities, and entertainment on King Street in downtown Bridgewater. Exhibitors taking part in the street festival would only be involved on Saturday the 25th, the general timeframe for which will once again be morning to early afternoon. A detailed schedule will be released in the coming months.
§ SEEKING PARTICIPANTS: The Festival is once again looking for the following types of participation to help make this year’s event a success:
1. Exhibitors:
- Food vendors - preferably locally-sourced, healthy food
· Product & service vendors - environmentally preferable products and services
· Information kiosks - educational campaigns, opportunities, and other information that can help people live more sustainably
· Demonstrators & educators – to teach people practical skills and activities related to self-sufficiency and sustainability
2. Performers and entertainers - this year our music and entertainment coordinating group will be the Bridgewater & Area Performing Arts Society. They are seeking interested individuals and groups for our stages, and for interacting with children and the public.
3. Art Show Participants - for the sustainability-themed art show taking place again at the Bridgewater Library
4. Sponsors - we are seeking individuals, organizations, and businesses to help sponsor the Festival through financial and in-kind donations. The Festival always makes efforts to publicly recognize its sponsors
5. Volunteers – we are seeking individuals to assist with the planning process and to help out on the event days. Last year it took 60+ volunteers to pull off the event, and there are many different roles to fill.
§ APPLICATION PROCESS FOR EXHIBITORS: There will once again be a formal application process for participating exhibitors. Our goal is to get the whole registration process started much earlier than last year, and the registration documents will be ready in a month or two. Last year we were able to accommodate nearly everyone who was interested, but we anticipate more demand this year. We want to create an interesting balance of businesses, organizations, activities, entertainers, etc. Getting your registration papers in early will give you a better chance at placement during the Festival. Because you participated in last year’s event, you will be among the first to receive an email notification when the registration documents are ready. If you know of any other person, business, or group that you would like us to notify when the registration documents are ready, please email

. We would love to hear from you as early as possible!
§ PARTNERSHIPS: We are also looking for ways to expand the number of Festival venues and activities this year. While we will keep the street festival component on Saturday, we are looking for ways to have concurrent workshops, tours, activities, etc by finding partner organizations who wish to host them. If you have ideas for a partnered event or location that can take place on August 24th or 25th, please contact us with your ideas at

. We will gladly consider all ideas, though locations should be in Bridgewater or in the surrounding areas, and activities should line up with the general principles and interests of the Festival.
Finally, if you are not planning to take part in this year’s festival and you do not wish to receive any further correspondence from us, please reply to this email to let us know, and you will be removed from our list.
Kind regards,
Leon
