This is an opportunity to help give a small rural Nova Scotia community Room to Grow. Thank you to all those who contributed to Room To Grow  last year. We financed the preliminary groundwork for the design of a new building for physical education and community events.  Now the campaign continues!

The South Shore Waldorf School was started 20 years ago by three families in Lunenburg county, Nova Scotia. With the hard work of the volunteer parent body and no government funding, the school now employs 6 teachers and two administrators and has a student body of 53 children from Kindergarten to Grade 7. Over half the current families at the school have come from afar to settle in or near the tiny community of Blockhouse so they can be close to the school. They are young entrepreneurs and professionals who have turned the tide on Lunenburg County’s shrinking young family demographic, and have had a significant impact on the local economy. The school has moved twice to accommodate expansion, and with volunteer labour, built three additional temporary buildings for additional classroom space. In 2013, we bought the property, and are again bursting at the seams. From the Christmas Fair to Mayfair, popular events for the surrounding community, there is standing room only. We need more space. More urgently, the children need indoor facilities for physical activities. We have the beginnings of a beautiful plan! The site has been mapped. The next step is for the architect to create working drawings.  And we need your help to bring it to life.

We are developing happy, healthy, and confident children. Please donate now, and help us grow!
